Whilst at University my specialisim was Internet and Network Technologies and although I chose a career in education, I found myself utilising these skills in the workplace once my education was complete.

My most recent employment in the UK included responsibilities for the management, administration and security of several small client/server networks within a educational organisation in Staffordshire. The networks were mixed environments using Lynux, Novell, and various Microsoft network (NT4 & Windows 2000) nodes.

I am no longer working in this field but I like to stay abreast of the technology. I find the skills I acquired in this field very useful in my everyday life and I shall be utilising them again soon. I plan to install a network within the two new bungalows I am building. The network will include direct access to the Internet via a hardware firewall solution. Apart from the normal services, other planned services will include: an automated CCTV system; an environmental and lighting control system; and more....
